The light sensor on the face of the plate ensures the GuideLight appears as a regular cover-plate during the day, only illuminating when it is dark at night.

Additionally, the GuideLight 2 is remarkably energy-efficient, costing only about 10 cents per year to power. It is important to note that the Duplex and Decor styles of the GuideLight 2 are not compatible with GFCI outlets (those with Test and Reset buttons). These models are currently not compatible with GFCI outlets.
